Jamu Lodge

Jamu Lodge, Jamu coming from the word Armadillo in Siona, is a beautiful, privately-owned lodge in the amazing ecosystem of Cuyabeno, where our guests can join us in different types of activities. We are located along the Cuyabeno River, 15 minutes down-river from the miraculous Laguna Grande.

Our lodge practices a policy of minimum environmental impact. All of our cabañas are lit naturally with candles to preserve the feeling of being in a remote jungle. Solar panels help to operate in this remote area and organize a safe and secure structure, providing us with energy for e.g. emergency calls.

Furthermore, all inorganic material is bagged and taken out of the reserve regularly and organic material is used in our compost. In addition, our biodigestores allow us to keep the impact of pollution to a minimum by utilizing natural enzymes and bacteria to treat all wastewater coming from the lodge. Our belief in true eco-tourism is intended to make your stay as comfortable as possible, while at the same time, preserving the beauty of the Cuyabeno Wildlife Reserve for the future.

Accommodation

Jamu Lodge consists of 9 cabañas, built in a traditional, rustic style with thatched-roofs and with elevated walk-ways. Six of the huts occupy our double bedrooms (each bed with mosquito nets), each with its own private, environmental-friendly bathroom and shower with hot water. One big cabaña hosts 4 multiple rooms (fit for 5 people) with space for 20 people, in one double-story cabaña you will find our spacious dining area and hammock lounge, and the last one takes up the kitchen and crew accommodations.

Dining

The heart of our lodge is a spacious dining area. We take pride in our ability to prepare and serve fresh food in such an isolated location. We take great care to ensure fresh, local ingredients, such as tasty platanos and yucca which are the basis for our recipes so you will take pleasure in your dining experience as much as you enjoy the unspoiled ambiance of the surrounding jungle. Our mix of Ecuadorian and international cuisine will exhilarate your taste buds. But make sure to save room for dessert!!! Afterwards you can enjoy a cocktail at the bar, or relax with a beer upstairs in our comfortable hammock lounge.
